Reports: Milan fall behind in race for De Paul and Atletico Madrid have €44m package ready

By Oliver Fisher -

Milan are slipping behind Atletico Madrid in the race to land Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese, according to reports.

Calciomercato.it writes how the well-known South American journalist, Martin Liberman, has confirmed that Atletico Madrid represent the number one option for De Paul as Diego Simeone adores the player. Moreover, for De Paul it would be a welcome destination as he is attracted both by the economic proposal and also the sporting project.

The report adds how the journalist Pedro Almeida has also revealed the figures of the offer: Atleti are ready to put on the table a salary of €3.5m net per season and a 4-year contract to the midfielder, so therefore a contract worth €14m net in total. The Spanish club will increase the offer to Udinese to €30m, while the Friulian team continues to ask for at least €40m. The talks are described as being at an ‘advanced stage’.
