Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic has chosen to join AC Milan over Roma ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report.
According to La Repubblica, Arnautovic seems to be getting closer and closer to joining Milan as the Austrian forward has decided to leave Bologna at the end of the season to move to the Rossoneri.

It comes over a decade after his experience with city rivals Inter in the 2009-10 season. The 34-year-old has sensed the opportunity to get a final move to a top club after scoring 8 goals in 17 league games this season, and has chosen Milan over Roma.
During an editorial for Calciomercato.com a couple of weeks ago, journalist Cristiano Ruiu actually claimed that the Milan management seem to have decided not to offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new contract as a player for next season given his continuing injury issues, and said they have secured Arnautovic as his replacement.

Ironically speaking, we have more luck with old strikers in recent years. Not to say that we don’t need younger ones. Arnautovic might not be what we want, but he might turn out to be the one who we logically need.
I’d rather have two decent old strikers NOW until we have the money the get “the next big thing” (similar to Haaland). We don’t have the money to buy a finished product so meanwhile good, proven “old timers” are a good temporary fix.

Origi gets what, 4.5m? Marko gets what, 1-2m at most.
Marko has scored 22 goals in Serie A the past 2 years.
Origi has 8 goals, 2 for Milan and 6 for Liverpool.
Marko is cheaper, scores more and is stronger. Origi was a waste of a roster slot. Milan only signed him because he was free, now we’re stuck with the 4.5m for a terrible backup at best.

Arnautovic is a classy striker my friends. Origi’s scored two goals or something all season. Arnautovic will score more than that in his first three games.

Arnautovic is proven striker in serie A, and even in EPL he was individually a better player than Origi.
Arnautovic in serie A just about averages a goal every other game, playing for a Bologna team that doesn’t really create many chances.

Of course it’s a rumor. It’s a rumor until you see “Ufficiale: [insert statement]” on the website. Regardless, it’s a low cost option that keeps other options available. Imagine if we finish 5th and don’t win the CL? How many big time young strikers are going to want to join? The price will go up to turn their heads. Likewise, how much are we needing to spend to plug holes at RW, AMC, CM and a backup for Theo. Our transfer budget is no 200m, even with CL or 4th spot. Getting a striker with his goal rate for almost nothing and leaving budget for other positions, particularly when that budget might get hurt by results is called smart.

He’s not anothe Origi. He’s a proven striker with a solid record in the league.
If he is to be the third choice depth, great.
I think this is a good deal considering his consistency. We will get him for relatively cheap price and could use the big purchase on a good right winger or another young striker. Origi just didn’t connect with our system, let him go to some EPL clubs.
Arnautovic is a proven striker. He is strong and experienced and can hold the ball well, almost the same height as giroud. He can become a reliable 3rd backup. But we still need a strong young striker that can compete with giroud.
Better bring Alvarez even on loan. Or get back to Angelo Gabriel.
I like Arnautovic but we still need a top starting striker. Also this will not allow us to bring back Colombo. That’s ok as long as we loan him again and don’t sell.

For those of you are still hoping Milan will give a chance to Colombo for next season, forget it. This season he’s been bellow average and couldnt maintain as starting lineup. He’s not yet good enough as our main striker and backup. He will go on loan again next season.

Best case scenario for Milan – Colombo will be the Inter – Pinamonti situation.
Somewhat talented Primavera striker, who was never part of the 1st team, got sent on several loans to several clubs, and at the end, last summer got sold to Sassuolo for 20 mil capital gain.
Hopefully, in a year or 2 Milan can do the same with Colombo.
His chances to ever play a significant role in a Milan shirt are slim to none. If he is playing an important role for Milan, it means that Milan is back in a banter Era.
He is undersized for the position he plays, not mobile, doesn’t do much outside of the box be that in areal duels, link up or hold up play.
Lazetic is the young striker, that if he continues to improve, has the chance to play for Milan. I don’t see that in Colombo.

For goals we rely on Leao who will be gone soon and Theo who’s a fullback. We need a powerful striker who can play nearly every match and score around 20 goals. Facts, bro

As a third choice attacker i would say it could be a shrewd move as he is a pretty prolific and dominant player.
Yep he is still better than king origoat or colombo if just for 3rd spot striker. AC Milan offer 3-4m euro for arnautovic but bologna want 6-7m euro source di marzio. Roma want arnautivic too ( replace belotti that flop in roma )
At first I was like wtf.
But then, if he comes as the third choice then it would all make sense and this deal would be a splendid one. This also means that we’re most probably getting rid of Origi (Do we have to pay others to buy him, that’s a question for another time).
Even if it would be Giroud/Arnautovic/Lazetic or Colombo, it would still somehow be decent, but I personally would be underwhelmed, as I thought starting level striker along with a starting level midfielder are the positions that we desperately need to cover. We can’t win another scudetto without a prolific striker. Look at the Capocannoniere ladder, none of our players are there in the top 5.. quite embarassing as a title challenger.
