Repubblica: Milan make loan enquiry for Netherlands midfielder

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are battling two rivals clubs from Italy for the signing of midfielder Kevin Strootman, according to the latest reports.

The Rossoneri are determined to dip back into the transfer market after bringing in six players during the summer, with many outlets reporting that experienced players will be the focus of recruitment.

Milan currently sit in 14th place in the Serie A standings having lost seven of their first 12 league games, and as such rumours have been rife about potential signings, especially in midfield.

Ivan Rakitic has been linked with a move but Tuttosport reported on Tuesday that it will be ‘difficult‘, while Milan have also been credited with interest in Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic.

According to La Repubblica though – as cited by Calciomercato.com – Milan are one of three clubs in the running for former Roma man Kevin Strootman, currently at Marseille.

The Netherlands international has featured regularly for the Ligue 1 club this season having moved there in a €25m deal last year.

Despite this, Fiorentina and Inter as well as the Rossoneri are keen on bringing him back to Italy, with Milan even having made a loan enquiry according to the report.
