Repubblica: Milan ahead of Spurs and Napoli in Dragusin race thanks to counterpart

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are now the team in pole position to sign Radu Dragusin from Genoa because they have a player that can be used as a counterpart, a report claims.

After the return of Matteo Gabbia from his loan at Villarreal, it seems that the next reinforcement is close to arriving with as Filippo Terracciano has arrived to undergo his medical.

However, Geoffrey Moncada hinted yesterday that he won’t be the last defender to sign because the squad are still short on centre-backs while Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu and Malick Thiaw are all out.

According to La Repubblica,Milan are now the team that are in pole position to sign Dragusin from Genoa as they are ahead of both Napoli and Tottenham in the race to land him.

The former Juventus centre-back is ready to leave in January and Genoa are happy to cash in, while it appears that Lorenzo Colombo could be the key to unlocking things in Milan’s favour.

The striker is currently on loan at Monza but he could move to Genoa who are very keen on having him. Napoli are continuing to offer up counterparts such as Leo Ostigard, Diego Demme, Zanoli and Zerbin, but they are less appealing to the Grifone.

Di Marzio reported before the game that Moncada was present at Bologna-Genoa to watch Albert Gudmundsson and Joshua Zirkzee. The former scored a nice free-kick, also hitting the bar, but perhaps it is Dragusin who caught his eye.

  1. Get it done Levy. You always are the same and you make us sick. I cannot see this player coming to Spurs because of you.

  2. They aren’t even after him. Romano says spurs are the ones making moves.

Id rather we develop simic than cash out on another right footed cb

  3. I’d love it to be true, but I won’t believe it till I see it.

Also, Kjaer is hitting his form, Simic is more than a reserve option, Kalulu, Thiaw and Tomori haven’t left the club, and Terraciano has arrived…

With Florenzo injured you’d except Theo to go back to left back, but Jimenez and Bartesaghi need minutes to develop as well… I don’t really expect Redbird to spend this amount of money on a centre back – It would have to he Dragusin’s choice to join Milan over Tottenham, among other suitors. If he’s a lifelong fan, by all means, bring him.

Theo and Bartesaghi on the left – Calabria and Kaluli on the right, Florenzi and Jimenez either side and Kjaer, Terraciano, Gabbia, Tomori, Thiaw in the center, where Theo and Kalulu can play as well. Even with our injury issues there should be plenty of options in defense without spending 30ish million on Dragusin.

Now if we wanted to actually compete for the title and not 3rd/4th which is the current goal, then Dragusin would be a great addition… but what funds are then left for the lift up in quality in attack and midfield that needs to happen this summer to match those ambitions? Are we selling Maignan, Theo or Leao, at that point? CDK’s 23 mill will only get us so far…

    1. Good assessment of the situation. I hope we can sell krunic which looks likely and we can pick up an actual CDM cause we really do need that destroyer type player e.g. toreira type player or otherwise. Then in the summer grab a good striker who can compete with Colombo and jovic. That would set up the defense, attack and mf really nicely.
