Repubblica: New leader emerges as Arsenal, Man Utd join Milan in race for €50m forward

By Oliver Fisher -

Arsenal are the new frontrunners in the race to land reported AC Milan and Juventus target Arkadiusz Milik this summer, according to a report.

It was reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport last week that Milik – a name that has long been linked to Milan – has remained a target as the Rossoneri look to secure a new centre-forward this summer, with Juventus also keen.

According to the latest from the paper edition of La Repubblica – as cited by The Sun – it is in fact Arsenal who are now in pole position to land the unsettled forward.

Milik is set to enter the final year of his five-year deal which brought him to Serie A from Ajax in 2016 having refused to pen a new deal at the Stadio San Paolo.

The outlet states that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants to avoid selling to a Serie A rival and would accept an offer below their €50million valuation.

La Repubblica go on to state that Manchester United are among ‘a number of Premier League clubs’ who are also believed to be admirers of the 26-year-old, who has 46 goals in 109 official games for the Partenopei (via Transfermarkt).
