Samuele Ricci did not get long on the pitch for AC Milan tonight, but he helped the Rossoneri see out a 0-0 draw with Juventus, which has pleased the squad.
When Massimiliano Allegri came into the picture this season, it was clear that Milan were going to become a more defensively orientated team. So, this result is not the first of its kind, nor will it be the last presuming his tenure extends past this season.
The draw with Juventus was their 15th clean sheet of the season and second in a row after the last game at San Siro saw them get hammered by Udinese, where they conceded three goals. In other words, a return to normality.
Ricci analyses Milan’s strengths
Allegri’s side have been one of the best defences in Europe this season and this was another showing of that. Though, you could argue they were helped by Juventus’ equal lack of drive to win the game.
Speaking at full-time, Ricci praised his teammates for another clean sheet, as MilanNews relays from his chat with MilanTV.
About tonight’s match…
“It was a good, evenly matched game. Perhaps we were a bit slow at the start, but then we improved and played well. I think it was a fair draw.”
On Milan and what to improve…
“Defensiveness is our strong point, but maybe we need to be more consistent up front. The important thing at the start of the season was to maintain defensive solidity, but today was a complete match from every perspective.”
The objective is the Champions League?
“Yes, it’s been our goal from the start. We’re doing well in the standings now, but it’s not over yet.”

You my friend are a fair failure, Jashari should be payed instead of you. Had he been given the minutes you get he would have shown more for sure
Sure he would. He was in game for 15 minutes, touched the ball 6 times. The best player of Belgian league isn’t that good in Italy.
Failure? What has Ricci done to be labelled a failure? And what has Jashari shown to be considered better? Last night Jashari lost the ball with a bad pass and gave Juventus a chance for a dangerous counter. Typical biased bullcr*p.
Ted, speaking of Bias, I will tell you. Ricci has been given more then enough opportunities and yet failed to grow or convince, yesterday he was aweful off the ball, but it appears that you are only watching passes and the ball. I will label Jashari a failure if he is given even 50% of space and room Ricci has and fails to impress, thus far coming from an injury with a broken leg with minutes he has received he looks way better player then Ricci. Time will tell
You will only label him a failure once he’s given opportunity but you’re already labelling a success or better than Ricci? Like I said biased. Ricci is also played out of position from the bench but still managed 3 assists and one goal. Again, biased.
Typical italian football. Play for defense, each team its too scare to play more attacking football. Too many back pass , just round and round in the middle..
Ricci probably needs a loan.
100% Savio
I think this year was a year of alot of expriments. uncertainty, learning and growth as a team. some individuals have grown from an individual point such as pavlo n barta plus the backline. the rest not really and upfront has always been the problem and is going to be the problem.
Jashari n ricci will become very important next season. im not even going to evaluate them on this season. everyone was trying to find thier feet, players, coaches, fans and even the whole club. but now we seem to have direction and understanding what is needed to compete in the future. so many changes will happen and i hope we get the 2 right forwards that can score atleast 15 goals per striker each.
do you know if milan scored 10 more goals this season we would be competing for the title right now. if each striker that we currently have scored just 3 more goals each the standing would be much better.
