RMC Sport: Milan overtake Inter and rival PSG in pursuit of French striker

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are the two teams fighting hardest to sign Marcus Thuram on a free transfer, a report claims.

According to RMC Sport, Thuram will leave Borussia Mönchengladbach on a free transfer and he has several suitors. As of Tuesday it seemed to be PSG and Inter who were the most keen, but now Milan have overtaken their city rivals.

The 25-year-old striker is also negotiating with Milan while continuing talks with PSG. The Parisians however are looking at Victor Osimhen of Napoli as the priority target or Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt, even if he seems more likely to stay at present.

As mentioned, it seemed like Inter were the Italian club who were going to pose the most serious threat to PSG for the Frenchman, but instead it is the Rossoneri who have strongly entered the race to sign Thuram and developments are expected soon.

  1. There is no transfer fee for buying, that means he can be approved by bigger salary. Which he must earn on the pitch. Charles De Ketelaere has at least 7 million of amortisation per year .
Therefore, it is not so bad strategy to approach to sign players without a contract.

    1. Based on what? Salary alone. He will play more with Milan and still be in UCL. Many players go to PSG to play striker and end up out of the top leagues…look at Icardi.

    2. If a startig place can be guartaneed to him – he could preffer Milan because of his role in the national team for the upcoming European Championship next year

        1. Yes why not?
We have 3 competitions and a 37 year old striker

Rebic and Origi are porbably leaving.

Do you want to Play Giroud in 45-50 games?

          1. That is not guaranteed starting place. Guaranteed starting place means you are the first choice, not just for rotation.

        2. No , Giroud are the one who become back up . Giroud stamina not enough to play full 90 minutes. Thuram are guaranteed starting spot as long as he is in good perform . With many french player here, thuram will fast adaptation and giroud will help too

          1. “Thuram are guaranteed starting spot as long as he is in good perform”

As long as he performs. He hasn’t done anything yet so he’d be starting as a backup for Giroud. Like it or not,

    3. He cannot beat mbappe for starter striker in PSG , many striker have failed in PSG due to mbappe presence. But if he choose money over playing time then it is his choice

    1. just because some people finds the thruam rumor unlikely to happen it doesnt mean that they want us to have a bad transfer market it just proves that they are more rational thinking because its unlikely that this idea will mount to anything but im all for trying ro persuade the player.

    2. Lol none of the comments I’ve read here indicates anyone wanting to have a bad market. Just either want the transfer to go through or limitations we may have like salary or role like any other discussion about transfers..it’s you that came projecting with your “bad market” vibes lol

    3. I love Maldini but he was only good in certain circumstances just like Pioli/ When you look at a big picture we have for example Calabria, Kalulu, Florenzi, Dest all for the RB and back up. Gabbia didn’t get many minutes this year and Tomori played even when not in shape. How much was Bakayoko on? DId we really need that 2 years loan? Is De Ketelaere that bad that we had to play Tonali, Bennacer and Krunic in attacking spot till one of them got injured as 2 of them were needed for the double pivot? Why dd we sign Messias after the loan? DIaz ended up playing there as well. Maldini wasted probably around 25-30mil last season not including De Ketelaere. Now Pioli. did you watch the last game? It was meaningless from the table point of view. Why Diaz played ahead of De Ketelaere or Adli if he is leaving? Why Origi didn’t get full game? Why Tomori had to play again? This coming season is Pioli’s last season as well. He was good for the stage Milan was at last 3 years just like Maldini but he is just a coach. In EPL or Spain the job he is doing would be Assistant Manager to actual Manager. The Inter CL games were terrible. He played exactly same formation with exact same players we all excpeted, so how Inter meant to be surprised?

  2. If he can be tempted, it would be good for us. Perhaps a guaranteed starting spot would lower his salary demands specially when PSG is sure to go for the likes of Osimhen or Kolo.

    Forza Milan.

  3. PSG are the French Chelsea (in a weaker league) – If he’s offered a starting place it puts us in a strong position. Getting Kamada and N’Dicka will give us AMF, starting CB and LB cover for Theo. Thuram can also provide cover for Leao and Giroud can enjoy some starts. The only thing left is RW, for which we should have some capital to play with..
