Roma boss Fonseca hails Pioli’s work: “Milan are in good shape, the coach is doing a wonderful job”

Roma boss Paulo Fonseca has praised the ‘wonderful job’ that AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has done since his arrival.

Milan will be looking to make it five wins from their opening five Serie A games of the season when they welcome Roma to San Siro on Monday night.

Pioli has done exceptionally well to juggle various selection problems brought about by injuries and a mini Coronavirus crisis, with Milan having won eight of eight competitive fixtures to begin the 2020-21 season and continue the good work from last season.

Pioli revealed in his pre-match press conference that he still believes his side can improve in certain areas, and that he is expecting a very tough game from a side similar to his in Roma.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip north, Fonseca was asking about his opponents for Monday’s clash and was complimentary about the job done by Stefano Pioli.

He was asked about whether Roma’s squad is inferior, given that this game is being billed as a test of Milan’s Scudetto credentials.

“Milan are in good shape, the coach is doing a wonderful job, but we are fine too, we are motivated, the team is confident,” he said (via MilanNews).

“It will be a tactically interesting match, both will want to win. Roma want to show that they are a great team and wants to win.”
