CM: Romagnoli nearing end of his time at Milan as Lazio’s president prepares decisive offer

By Oliver Fisher -

It looks increasingly likely that AC Milan will say goodbye to Alessio Romagnoli at the end of the season with Lazio hoping to find an agreement soon.

According to Calciomercato.com, Lazio president Claudio Lotito is in a hurry to close a deal for Romagnoli and will try to make a decisive lunge in talks with the entourage of Alessio Romagnoli during a meeting that will take place today.

The Milan captain is no longer a first choice for head coach Stefano Piol but he has been offered an extension worth €2.5m net per season plus bonuses compared to the current €5.5m net he earns, and that is the amount Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are sticking at.

Lazio will lose Luiz Felipe at the end of the season and possibly Francesco Acerbi as well, so Lotito has sprung into action and he is willing to go so far as an offer of around €3m net plus bonuses.

Today’s meeting therefore is one that Lotito wants to be the decisive one, and it would be a first new addition ahead of 2022-23 after giving Maurizio Sarri guarantees on the strengthening of the squad according to his needs.
