Romano: Milan believe Man Utd defender is a top signing – background on deal and Everton’s interest

AC Milan are convinced that they have acquired a great player in Diogo Dalot, who arrived on loan from Manchester United.

The Rossoneri secured Dalot as their final signing of the summer late on, as the Portuguese left-back arrived on a season-long dry loan deal from United.

A number of sources – including Tuttosport (via MilanLive) – have reported that Milan are already thinking about trying to make it a permanent deal, as well as the loan of Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid.

Fabrizio Romano has provided some background in his latest for Calciomercato.com, claiming that Milan are convinced that they have made a great coup in Dalot, who will be up to speed and ready to play in the next few days.

Directors Paolo Maldini and in particular Ricky Massara believe that they have signed a full-back of the highest level – a player with tremendous quality and potential despite being just 21 and a one who can make a big difference in the attacking phase.

Milan tried to include an option to buy in the loan deal with Manchester United right up until the very end, even at a very high figure, but United consider him a useful player for the future to the point of having rejected an offer from Everton.

Milan decided to close the loan for Dalot in order to beat Roma and Everton to his signature, and his future remains to be seen.
