Romano: Milan ‘confident’ of winning race to sign Partizan Belgrade sensation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are ‘confident’ that they will win the Europe-wide race to sign striker Matija Popović from Partizan Belgrade on a free transfer, according to a report.

According to what journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting in his Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside, Milan are advancing in talks to sign the 17-year-old Serbian talent Popović from Partizan.

He would arrive as a free agent in January because his current contract expires at the end of the current calendar year, and a renewal does not seem to be imminent with the teenager keen on trying a new experience.

There are ‘multiple clubs interested’ in signing Popović, as per Romano, but Milan ‘are leading the race and are confident of getting a deal done soon’.

Popović can also play as an attacking midfielder or anywhere across the forward line really. He had 20 goals and five assists in 24 games for Partizan’s U17 side last season, showing his potential.
