Romano: Milan open talks with Barcelona over defender who could leave Aston Villa

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have opened talks with Barcelona about the possibility of signing Clement Lenglet during the January transfer window despite the fact he is out on loan, a report claims.

In defence there is quite an emergency for Milan at the moment, with Simon Kjaer, Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw, Marco Pellegrino and Mattia Caldara all out injured leaving Fikayo Tomori as the only senior option in that role.

Theo Hernandez has been filling in at centre-back next to Tomori, something which is obviously commendable but really only serves to highlight the need for reinforcements during the upcoming mercato.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan ‘have asked Barcelona’ about Clement Lenglet’s situation in view of the January window. He adds that Lenglet’s name joins Jakub Kiwior of Arsenal and Matteo Gabbia (on loan at Villarreal) as the ‘names on AC Milan list’.

Lenglet has only played 450 minutes in the UEFA Conference League at Aston Villa, and he has zero minutes in the Premier League so far, which means he ‘could leave soon’ as per the journalist.

    1. Remind me how well Italian players do. For instance in the world cup?
(Though I 100% agree Lenglet is not that great and should probably not be on our list)

  1. Why they always insist to get the barcelona’s left overs? This guy is another Sergiño Dest!!!
There is one reason why Barcelona sent him on loan and why he didn’t play a single minute on PL.
