In the past few months, Jean Philippe Mateta’s name has been on the minds of AC Milan fans after an attempted summer transfer. However, he might not be leaving England yet.
There have been many strikers linked to Milan in the past few months, and Mateta is certainly one of the more high-profile options. The Frenchman was a target in the summer, but with no need to sell, Crystal Palace were against the move.

After winning the FA Cup and the Community Shield, they had their own ambitions to progress. However, it seems that Mateta’s ambitions may no longer align with the Eagles’.
Mateta to Milan?
Reports have recently suggested that he wants a new experience, with Italy and the Rossoneri being linked together regularly. So far, no movement has been made, but Fabrizio Romano has today confirmed that there is interest, and it could be acted upon in the near future.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, his words have been relayed by MilanNews.
“He was on AC Milan’s list in the summer, but dealing with Crystal Palace isn’t easy. I can tell you, however, that the message I’m getting is that Mateta is ready for a different experience.
“I confirm the temptation of Italy for 2026; we’ll see if it’s in the summer or January, although the winter transfer window is a difficult one, and I don’t think Crystal Palace can let go of someone like Mateta.

“I can add that the last real contact between the player and Palace regarding a renewal was in August. Since then, there has been no further contact; Mateta doesn’t seem very inclined to renew his contract, which expires in 2027.
“I can confirm that Italy is a destination he would consider, as well as staying in the Premier League.”

Him or Kean would be perfect signings.
maybe also test in midfield trio with Rabiot and Modric
He had a great season last year and then had a pretty good one in France with PSG surrounded by all world class players who is always is in the top of the league even if they didn’t win the league that year. Not really sure why you are so stoked on Kean as he seems to consistently blow hot and cold. He will most likely also be fairly expensive so I don’t really see any point in trying to get him.
I would go for Fisnik Asllani from Hoffenheim, at 25 M he is a steal. Considering Tare Albanian connection he could make this happen. Dortmund, Bayern, Barca and some EOL teams are all in. Convince the player and pay the price.
Fiorentina may have to sell Kean. Palaver won’t offload Mateta at least until the summer.
He’s not going anywhere in January, especially with Crystal Palace doing so well at the moment – unless they have a very specific upgrade lined up, which seems unlikely.

Palace wont sell Mateta in january. They will most likely lose Guehi to Liverpool and cant afford to sell two key players in january, where its so hard to find proper replacements.
