RR: Milan Futuro kickstart future with first victory against Caravaggio

By Ben Dixon -

Today, AC Milan’s Futuro side got off to a fantastic start, winning their first fixture against Caravaggio offering Daniele Bonera a chance to see his young side in a match situation.

The plans for Milan’s Futuro side have been in the pipeline for some time, and whilst they are officially a team and will play in Serie C next season, today has been another major step in the right direction as the squad played their first friendly.

As Radio Rossonera reports, Bonera was without several key players due to the Under 19 European Championship which saw several of the squad’s young stars depart, so the lineup will improve with the returning players. Additionally, the coach trialled two elevens in the fixture, allowing several players to play valuable minutes.

Regardless of the missing youngsters, though, a 2-1 victory was earned against the Serie D opposition, with Gabriele Alesi’s goal and a Caravaggio own-goal being the all-important goals.

Given the side won the fixture, the major step is a positive one, and it is a historic moment as the squad can now say they have won their first game in their first game. The next step awaiting them is their first competitive game, which will, hopefully, bring a first competitive victory as well.
