RR: The Carrasco saga – background info, €50m demands and Milan’s current stance

By Oliver Fisher -

The name of Yannick Carrasco could return to fashion for AC Milan having been repeatedly linked in the summer, a report claims.

Radio Rossonera provide a bit of background in the negotiations towards the end of August, claiming that Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban were determined to bring the Belgian to Milan.

The Rossoneri were looking for a high-quality winger and Maldini and Boban were informed of Carrasco’s desire to return to Europe. The duo sprung into action and readied a €30m offer to present to Dalian Yifang, with intermediaryPaolo Schiavone even involved in the talks.

However, the Chinese side had other ideas: they were demanding €50million and would not provide a discount under any circumstances, even if Carrasco was willing to take a substantial pay cut from his €12m-a-year just to return to Europe.

The report concludes by stating that the future of Carrasco is unknown and that a future move to Milan cannot be ruled out, as he is once again looking to leave China and is a name still appreciated by Maldini, Boban and Massara.
