Arrigo Sacchi believes that Inter are currently the favourites for the 2022-23 Scudetto as things stand, and he told Stefano Pioli how he can improve AC Milan further.
With a few weeks until the season starts and with the transfer window only in the early stages, it feels difficult to make a call currently on who will be the bookmakers’ favourites to win the league. However, Juventus have added Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria while Inter have welcomed back Romelu Lukaku, so it will be tough for Milan right from the start.
Sacchi was interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport about the upcoming campaign and he offered his judgements on where the title candidates stand currently, with his comments relayed by PianetaMilan.
“Scudetto favourites? I would say Inter. A deep squad, a lot of experience and quality players. In attack they have incredible potential. Since Sanchez is still in the group for now, there are five strikers: the Chilean, Correa, Dzeko, Lautaro and Lukaku,” he said.
“And then the Nerazzurri bought Mkhitaryan, an interesting element. They have two men per position and in this way they can make up for any injuries or drops in performance. I hope Simone Inzaghi, who has improved a lot, will take more and more courage and understand that you don’t need an extra man in defence when the game is stopped. In modern football, movement and speed are fundamental.”
Sacchi also offered some advice on how Pioli can improve his team even further after they defied the doubters by winning the league title in 2021-22 by beating their city rivals to the post.
“Working on the collective. If Inter and Juve have any limits, it is in team play. Milan, on the other hand, must be superior in terms of play, not having the individual quality of rivals. They will need to put in good pressure, they will have to train a lot on ball possession, the players will have to focus a lot on attacks in the spaces,” Sacchi said.
“And, we can’t forget, Milan will have to be a short and compact team: thus increasing synergy, collaboration and you can get to the internalisation of the game. The frequent movements and the interchange of roles will be decisive in the construction of the manoeuvre.”
Arrigo Sacchi is wrong with his usual claim that Inter Milan is the favourite for the 2022/2023 season. Which Inter Milan player is more dangerous in Champions League Heavy weight matches than DIVOCK ORIGI???,
Lautaro Martinez and Lukaku is nowhere near Giroud and Origi. If we get Charles De Ketelaere and Ziyech and may be other two players we shall see who is who.
Milan is winning the Champions league with Origi, Giroud, Ibra, Tonali, Bennacer, Theo Hernandez, Fikayo Tomori, Maignan, Rebic.

Hahahahahahahahhahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahaha. Im Milan fan but you are the biggest joke on this website. One good UCL game doesn’t make you a dangerous player in CL, Origi is good but Lautaro and Lukaku or much better c’mon be honest.
That whole thing was sarcasm, right?! 😀
Who is Lukaku? What happened to him last season in champions league and premiership? He will be a flop because Conte is no longer at inter. Milan will take the league like storm. Forza Milan
Hahaha its so funny how this whole site is hating on Lukaku, im a bit scared of him for the next Derby’s. But it seems like I’m the only one, Lukaku scored more goals than Origi played games, please stop with the comparisons, better put a Vlahovic Lukaku rivalry up, not Origi
agree, not only does Lukaku get up for the derbies he is a force in the box with his back to goal, if Inter had him last year, more than likely they win the Scudetto.
as well Perisic is gone, he has been a thorn in our side.
You forgotten Adli.

Well, Inter are strong this season. They are well packed and have a good list of player on every spot. And their bench is impressive. Same situation with Juventus.
It will be a huge challenge for our boys to add a second star to our jersey. We still have a lot of work to do.
Let’s just do our best and hunt for some snakes and zebras.
I think Sacchi’s & generally Italian coaches mentality is outdated in terms of need for experience. I am sick of hearing that Inter and Juve have these experienced squads that are favorites. Milan beat them fair and square w/ a very young team, a team that actually got younger as the season progressed, as Kalulu replaced Kjaer, Giroud played for Ibra, Florenzi got injured and so on.
The way I look at it, Milan have a group of very talented youngsters that don’t know their ceiling. This means unpredictability. The old way of winning Serie A was w/ experience, so the moves Inter and Juve made suggests they believe in the old ways. Milan beat them w/ a new approach based on youth.
I still think Milan wins their second star w/ the condition of bringing some depth in defense and midfield, and De Ketelaere.
Does anyone remember Dortmund in 2010 &2011? They had a squad of nobodies. But the squad was young and determined to make a name for it self. Have no fear my brothers, Milan will get the second star this season. Matches are won on the field not on paper, if that was the case PSG would have won the champion’s league 10 years in a row. Inter and Juve will have added pressure to win the title while we continue what we were doing already, win one match at a time.
According to Sacchi’s utterances, Inter should have won last season as well but we all know how that story ended. Sorry to be the one that has to break it to you Sacchi but, you’re a lousy prognosticator.
Milan has proven it’s worth on the pitch over the past two seasons and if that’s not enough for us to be considered favorites or serious contenders then f’ em. I mean seriously! Sacchi talks about individual quality but honestly who’s a better left-back than Theo in the league, how many keepers in Serie A are above Maignan or midfielders better than Bennacer, wingers than Leao or defenders than Tomori. Let’s be honest.
Most of you who come on this site to spread your fear and negativity are victims of the media’s over hyping of players and as such, will never give this great Milan team the credit it truly deserves.
