GdS: Saelemaekers ahead of Krunic in battle to start for Milan against Napoli

Alexis Saelemaekers is winning the race to start for AC Milan against Napoli on the left wing in Rafael Leao’s absence, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, the Belgian attacker is set to beat Rade Krunic to the starting place in the Milan side that has been vacated by Leao’s red card against Sampdoria last weekend.

Stefano Pioli needs to decide who will take that role and it seems that he is favouring moving the flexible Saelemaekers to the left wing and keeping Junior Messias on the right, rather than bringing Krunic into a more unfamiliar position.

Another possible way to change the team that has been hypothesised is to move to a 4-3-2-1 formation and use two more central attacking players in Brahim Diaz and Charles De Ketelaere.

That would likely mean playing a trio in midfield of Sandro Tonali, Tommaso Pobega and Ismael Bennacer.
