Despite being part of the senior squad for the preseason tour of Asia and Australia, Mattia Liberali’s future remains highly uncertain.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Liberali is already at a career crossroads despite being just 18 years of age. His contract expires in 2026, and so far there’s no certainty about his future.

It is a strange scenario, because he is a talented young player who has already made his first-team debut, in Milan-Genoa in the league last December. However, despite this there’s been no talk of a renewal being close.
The feeling, at least until the situation becomes clearer, is that Milan may consider him available for a permanent sale The fact that a contract extension hasn’t (yet) come to fruition is the first clear indication. The second is his journey last season, which speaks volumes.
His Serie A debut was a real highlight and a source of pride, but – in hindsight – it was just the icing on the cake. Liberali was with the senior squad for the USA tour last summer, earning comparisons to Phil Foden, meaning he immediately made a name for himself.
However, what followed then was a ‘relegation’ to playing with Milan’s Primavera side, given he wasn’t even getting many minutes for the struggling Milan Futuro. This has led everyone to reflect on the path Milan have for the teenager.
Sell with buy back clause. He doesn´t even have a position in the 4-3-3 and isn´t really ready for Serie A. 2 seasons in Serie B and things might look very different.
You can’t add a buy back clause without the player agreeing to it – he basically has to sign a pre-contract that may or may not ever get triggered. If he wants out with a year to go theres nothing we can do but it’s a sad state of affairs.
Straight into wheel-and-deal-mode.
What we need is protest-mode.
Renew the contract + play in first team. Milan need homegrown players
Milan need young player,give him the Chance to show his worth,his got real talent,he can become the future of Milan a loan is another option,that depend on the coach the management thats my opinion.
Boy go get your stripes elsewhere. This is not a club that fields their youths in the first team
what is the purpose of it’s existence of Milan Primavera & Futuro then?
Too old for primavera and Futuro is in Serie D, while Liberali should be getting Serie B football at the very least. Simple stuff.
