MN: Probable Milan XI to face Salernitana – two dilemmas for Pioli to mull over

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will depart for Salerno tomorrow ahead of Saturday night’s game against Serie A’s bottom-placed club Salernitana, and some team news is beginning to come out.

According to the latest from MilanNews, Mike Maignan will be the man in goal as expected with Davide Calabria at right-back, Fikayo Tomori and Alessio Romagnoli the centre-back pairing and Theo Hernandez back from suspension at left-back.

Sandro Tonali is the player sure of a start in midfield with one of either Ismael Bennacer or Franck Kessie to partner him in the double pivot, with the Algerian the favoured to get the nod at the present moment.

Either Junior Messias or Alexis Saelemaekers will start on the right side of the attack in what seems to be a 50/50 battle currently, with Brahim Diaz the playmaker and Rafael Leao as the left winger completing the trident behind the centre-forward Olivier Giroud.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer (Kessie); Saelemaekers/Messias, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.

  1. Why don’t we just try rebic on the right in this match…..both salamaekers and messias are not good enough now, the trident should be rebic-diaz-leao

    1. Agreed. Pioli gave kessie chance to play in completely different in AM. Why not try rebic on a same role but only in different side. Also rebic needs more game time to tune in again and gain match fitness
