Repubblica: Salman Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa involved in Investcorp takeover bid – his background

Another influential figure in the talks between Investcorp and Elliott Management over the purchase of AC Milan has emerged, a report claims.

According to what is being reported by La Repubblica (via SempreMilan.it), among the parties involved in the negotiation to represent the Middle Eastern investment fund there is also ‘the most influential football manager from the kingdom of the Gulf’ – Salman Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa.

Who is Al Khalifa? He is a member of the royal family of Bahrain, he graduated from Bahrain University in 1992 and has been president of the Asian Football Confederation since 1 May 2013, succeeding Zhang Jilong.

Previously, he was president of the Bahraini Football Federation, president of the disciplinary commission of the AFC and vice president of the disciplinary commission of FIFA.

In 2015 he ran for the elections, scheduled for February 2016 for the presidency of FIFA, but lost to the Italian-Swiss manager Gianni Infantino. His family has an estimated net worth of $5bn.
