A number of protests took place on Sunday night before, during and after AC Milan’s latest damaging loss against Atalanta.
Tens of thousands of fans turned up to San Siro hoping to see Milan reverse their recent bad run, and instead they saw their team 3-0 down after less than an hour. The Curva Sud – who distributed a strong statement before the game – vacated the stadium, leaving the rest to jeer the team.

A late comeback gave the impression of a closer and more hard-fought game, yet the fact remains that Milan are in absolute free-fall. They have won just two of their last eight games and now there is no gap to fifth place in terms of points.
Furlani targeted
The CEO Giorgio Furlani was the target of the first visible protest inside the stadium as the Curva – just as they have done previously – arranged their phone torches to spell ‘G.F. OUT [Giorgio Furlani]’.
This came after reports in the build-up to the game claiming that the executive has been left ‘deeply upset’ by the petition calling for his resignation, one which at the time of writing has nearly 50,000 signatures.

Seen enough
When the third goal went in for the away side, the Curva Sud emptied. It left a rather eerie picture on the TV broadcast, with a baffled-looking Massimiliano Allegri stood in front of a void where the most passionate supporters should be.

The ultras didn’t go home though: instead they took their protests to the car park where they continued until after the game, again voicing disapproval towards Furlani and the ownership.
The club’s CEO was the primary target as they chanted: ‘Giorgio Furlani, you have to go, go away’. They also sang ‘We are AC Milan’ and even turned on the team, telling them to ‘show some balls’.
The Maldini shirt
What maybe shouldn’t have been a surprise is that there were calls for the return of Paolo Maldini. One fan even brought a shirt with his name and number on, walking along the front of the stand and receiving applause.

Everyone can see getting rid of Maldini was a mistake. As indeed was getting rid of Boban, for speaking truth to power, though that is mentioned less. Neither would even entertain returning to the club with the current structure and I can’t blame them.

Fire Furlani and get Maldini back. That would solve most of the issues at once.
No No No fire Cardinale and bring back Maldini and then let Paolo have the satisfaction of cleaning house starting with the inept Furlani

Cardinale is the founder of Red Bird Capital, can’t fire him. One of the main investors in Red Bird is the owner of Manchester city as well.
I guess Maldini success in a managerial position wasn’t so easy to replicate now was it??
