Scaroni compares RedBird with Berlusconi’s reign at Milan: “I’m convinced”

AC Milan will face Monza in a very special game tonight as it’s the first edition of Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi, following the passing of the legendary president. In a new interview, Paolo Scaroni compared RedBird with Berlusconi.

Scaroni has been on vacation in the last few days but will be present in the stands for tonight’s clash, one he wouldn’t miss ‘for anything in the world’ as he described it. The game is scheduled for 21:00 CEST and the stadium is sold out.

Speaking to today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (read the full interview here), Scaroni spoke about the Berlusconi era at Milan and compared it with the project that RedBird has for the club.

“I’m returning from vacation to be in the stands, I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world. Berlusconi was a pioneer in many fields, but in the world of football he was so much: Milan as we know it today, a legendary team with hundreds of millions of fans all over the world, owes everything to him. Silvio’s AC Milan inspired a new way of playing and was innovative in style. A path I want to continue as the president.

“Berlusconi’s Milan taught us that winning while having fun is even more beautiful and I’m convinced that the path followed by RedBird’s Milan is the same as Silvio followed in the past. Even if, as you well know, it’s not me who is behind this mercato but rather our great CEO Giorgio Furlani, with the support of our owner Cardinale. Gerry follows everything that happens at the club, and the mercato in particular,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if the American fund will achieve as much success as Berlusconi did with the Rossoneri. The mercato this summer has certainly increased expectations and with the season opener just two weeks away, we will soon have more answers.
