Scaroni comments on Gimenez links, Walker’s arrival and protests against Cardinale

AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni was asked about the potential signing of striker Santiago Gimenez, and addressed the protests towards the ownership.

Milan have had yet another opportunity presented to them in terms of making up ground on the teams directly above them. Juventus lost to Napoli yesterday, Bologna drew away at Empoli and Lazio face Fiorentina tonight.

However, the Rossoneri have already squandered several chances this season to make their pursuit of the Champions League places a bit easier for themselves, such as in Sergio Conceicao’s first league game (the 1-1 draw with Cagliari).

Parma meanwhile are a dangerous side despite being in a relegation battle, as Milan discovered at the Tardini earlier in the season as they lost 2-1. With 26 goals in 21 games the attack is their main weapon, given they have scored the most of any team in the bottom seven by some distance.

Speaking to DAZN not long before kick-off, Scaroni answered questions on the January transfer window and also the protests against the ownership, with MilanNews transcribing his comments.

What will Kyle Walker bring?

“You have shown the list of achievements, I have nothing to add. I saw him on Thursday at Casa Milan and he is a player who wants to win and is used to winning, he will add strength and passion to us.”

Could a major investment in attack arrive, like Santiago Gimenez?

“The January transfer window is always difficult, I’m not sure that in January we will be able to get that reinforcement up front that you are talking about. We’ll see, I just spoke to Furlani, he is the one who deals with these issues.

“But we are certainly very attentive to create a strong Milan. I remind everyone that we have just won a Supercoppa in which no one had us as favourites. We already have the strength, but we want to be that in the league too.”

There are protests against Gerry Cardinale…

“We want the fans to care about the team, Cardinale, the players and the coach also want it. I hope that everyone is behind Milan, with strength and as has been done in the past. We need the support of our fans. I am sure that the fans will listen to us.”

  1. ‘I remind everyone that we have just won a Supercoppa in which no one had us as favourites.’

Remember that the coach said anyone who already satisfied with only Super Coppa, has no business staying in Milan.

  2. So basically there’s not going to be a big centre forward transfer suprise suprise but more retirement home England rejects who ain’t being paid peanuts along with more bang average talent who won’t improve the standard of the team.

This sums up everything wrong with Italian football not just Ac Milan as seen during this window more top talents leave for clubs who in no way shape or form comply with FFP and are completely uncontested by top Italian teams with regards FFP or trying to sign the players thus keeping them in Italy and not doing more damage to the very product certain people who want big things to happen talk about.

Italian football is heading towards the trap door to join leagues such as holland Portugal Belgium and France that’s if they are not there already and that suits certain individuals both at home and abroad perfectly England Spain Germany Paris for example which does beg the question are American investors REALLY GOOD For ITALIAN CLUBS?
Mabe Roma fans are best ask that question and answer I would be interested to know what they think of there owners spending over a billion on Everton and yet plead poverty in Rome.

  3. The fans are morons. We have owners that know nothing about football. They are 18 months into the job. They’re on their 3rd coach and have invested over €200 million. They know the weaknesses in the squad and are trying to address them. You can complain about the bad decisions being made (largely because of Moncada), but you cannot complain about a lack of desire or ambition.

It took Chelsea 2 years under Abramovic to win the EPL.
It took Man City 4 years under Sheikh Mansour to win the EPL.

Cardinale has been in the job for 18 months, and like Abramovic and Mansour, knows little about football so STFU complaining. Complain when owners don’t try. Don’t complain when they do try.

    1. When redbird bought the club, Milan had just won Serie-A. Meanwhile under abramovich or mansour, before they came, their clubs were nothing, both in terms of the quality of the club at the time and the history of the club.
Then they brought in good coaches at the time, Chelsea with Ranieri (his first year 2003-04, finishing second to Arsenal’s “Invincibles” in the league and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League, then Maurinho.
City with Mancini (league champion after 44 years), Pellegrini (double champion, league & FA cup champion), then Pep.
And those two owners not only brought in those coaches but also brought in the players those coaches wanted. In short they put their money where their mouth is.
      That’s the difference!

And don’t tell others to STU, if you’re making comparisons you don’t know where the difference is

  4. The problem is the owners have let Kessie and Tonali go in the last couple of years and they were the heart of the team. How Kalulu was allowed to leave and Emerson Royal was signed, I haven’t a clue.

The club should’ve been sold to owners with money, who want to invest to grow the club.

  5. The scarecrow is careful in choosing the cliché words he says, because he doesn’t want to make a promise, the old man doesn’t take the slightest risk. (Servant, Cardinale)
Paolo Maldini has always been and always will be one of the great honors of AC Milan.
