Schira: Shevchenko offered to Milan as caretaker head coach – the response

Andriy Shevchenko has been offered to #ACMilan by some intermediaries as a possible caretaker manager, according to what is being reported by one journalist.

Milan failed to rise to the big occasion as they were beaten 3-1 by Borussia Dortmund last night at San Siro, and the result means a miracle is needed for last-16 qualification in the Champions League.

This has led to growing calls for a change in management and Tuttosport reported on Wednesday that the trust of the management in Stefano Pioli is at its lowest point because of the results and injuries.

According to Nicolo Schira, Shevchenko’s name his been put forward by some intermediaries as a coach until June, therefore an interim role similar to what was initially expected of Pioli.

However, his profile doesn’t fully convince Milan’s management. Schira adds a reminder that Pioli’s contract (€4.2m net per year) expires in 2025 and so there would be a pay-out involved.
