The Scudetto race last year was even, but it always seemed like it would be one of two teams. This year, with AC Milan involved, it is not as clear.
It would be nice for Milan to be in a position where they could only look down. However, this is not the case. Instead, the race for the Scudetto sees several teams on a near enough level playing field, and every goal counts.

Battle of four?
Gazzetta dello Sport, this morning, write how the race for the ‘winter Scudetto’ is very even, with four teams separated by only a point. Later down the line, things could be thinned slightly, but each team has a reason to believe they can be in the fold.
As the league leaders, the Rossoneri will feel the most confident, given they have beaten the other three teams in the mix: Napoli, Inter and Roma. They have the best record against the ‘big’ teams, and they don’t have the strain of a European competition.
Napoli follow, despite being ravaged by injuries, and they could hit a new level soon. Romelu Lukaku will return soon, whilst David Neres and Noa Lang have stepped up. With that said, Zambo-Anguissa’s injury is a big miss and the cover is low.
Inter’s transition has fallen nicely for the others, given there are a few questions about the old and new. Quality is there, and the new ideas bring something different, whilst the old ones bring comfort. However, there needs to be a synchronicity of both, and finding that will be key to their hopes.
Finally, Roma are the shock package of the year, with Gian Piero Gasperini fighting above his team’s weight. The Giallorossi remain in contention, despite their horrific head-to-head record and potentially subpar team. Perhaps, like Atalanta last year, they will be in the conversation until others truly take off.
Four? Ummm in two games Como and Juve can top the table. It’s easily, for now, still open to at least the top 7 teams. It’s the most competitive league in Europe.

Since Ranieri took over they were by far the best form team in Serie A. Nothing surprising that same team continued it with Gasperini. Well it seems that someone is surprised but I’m not sure how is that person a sports journalist.
Milan would probably have raced clear, should they not have failed against lower ranked teams like cremonese,Pisa & parma

I think Roma is over-performing so far with Gasp. I don’t see them holding on to Top spot throughout the entire campaign. I think they will start dropping lower eventually …
Inter doesn’t have what it takes with Chivu so far from what I’ve seen this season. Napoli and Conte are so far the strongest but Milan will give them the run for their money …
To be fair, Atalanta overperformed for about 5 years with Gasperini. They were also the best team in the second half of last season.

Chivu’s Inter has been massively unlucky. They lead Serie by miles in terms of goal creation and win potential. They just literally had bad luck but they’re the most dangerous team in the league imo. If they get their stuff together they can sail to another title. Max will grind us to a top 4 and play corto muso. Conte is similar and Napoli is doing very well. I expect it to be at least Inter v Napoli with us and maybe Roma (at this point) hanging around and hoping for slip ups. Then there’s Juve and how Palladino works with Atalanta (though they’re more so would welcome a 4th spot with alot of recovery in points). It’s really quite an interesting Serie A and I’m loving it
