Sesko’s agent confirms previous Milan talks and teases about the future: “You never know”

By Oliver Fisher -

Benjamin Sesko’s agent has confirmed that he has held previous talks over a move to AC Milan and he also failed to rule out the possibility of more discussions in the future.

The Milan management are continuing to look for a new number nine for the attack of the future and a significant economic investment is expected in the role, given that one was not made over the summer.

Calciomercato.com among other sources have claimed that the management are keeping a close eye on Sesko who has six goals and 12 games for RB Leipzig across all competitions so far this season since his move from Red Bull Salzburg.

Milan were linked with the Slovenia international while he was at Salzburg and when Paolo Maldini was the director, but Red Bull had already made the decision to send him to Leipzig, it seemed.

Sesko’s agent Elvis Basanovic spoke during an interview with Sportitalia and he was asked if it was true that there were previous talks with Milan and also about the potential of a future move.

“I can confirm that I spoke with Milan in the past about Sesko when Maldini was there. However in that moment a transfer wasn’t possible, it was not the right time,” he said (via MilanEye).

“You never know in the future, Milan is a big club. Sesko feels very good now at Leipzig where he continues to grow.”

  1. He would now cost more than 80M. That’s how Leipzig do business, as mush as I want to see someone like him or Santiago Gimenez play for us, we don’t really have that much money to spend on a single player. I think the ideal option for us will be Pavlidis or Akor Adams. These are the best options for us given our budget.

      1. They won’t spend much, for sure. I meant this for our big summer striker signing the management is talking about a lot, if everything goes as planned that. Imagine if we finish bottom in our UCL group and let’s just say we finish 2nd/3rd in the domestic league, including similar performance in Coppa Italia. I don’t think with this performance, we would be able to reach the financial targets we would have thought we would achieve before the season started. So, all things considered, I think it would be hard for the owners to invest that much money without domestic and European success. I can’t say for sure what our budget would be for the next mercato or would they sell another key player to finance 3 new signings. By Christmas, things would be more clear.

        1. Apparently they’re willing to spend 40m on David in January. If that’s the case I almost think we should just hold on and save that for the summer so that we could throw 40-60m for Gimenez, but our need for someone other than Giroud is dire. But you are also right that funds might become available if they sold someone. My guess is still that it will be Theo.
