Sevilla director comments on Papu-Milan links and rules out Castillejo move: “We are not interested”

By Oliver Fisher -

Monchi has denied that Sevilla are interested in signing winger Samu Castillejo from Milan this summer, and also commented on Papu Gomez’s future.

It seems as though one of the exit-bound players for Milan is Castillejo, who played quite a lot this past season but failed to impress the management. MilanNews reported how Milan could use Castillejo’s departure in a different way as Sevilla are interested in the winger and their star, Papu Gomez, wants to return to Italy so a swap deal involving Castillejo and Gomez is possible.

Speaking to the microphones of Sky, the Sevilla director Monchi was asked about the rumours surrounding Castillejo and those suggesting that Papu Gomez could join Milan.

“In Seville Papu found himself and is doing very well. We are very happy with his performance and I think his chapter here has only just begun,” he said (via MilanNews).

On Castillejo: “They are rumours that I have read but they do not correspond to the truth. We have many players in that role like Ocampos and Papu and we are not interested.”

It seems therefore that any speculation regarding a swap deal being in the works is the creation of the media rather than there being anything concrete between the two sides.
