Simic sends heartwarming message to Abate following Milan exit: “I am very grateful”

By Ben Dixon -

Ignazio Abate has left AC Milan and their Primavera team after they concluded their season this weekend, and Jan-Carlo Simic has sent a message to the coach after their time working together thanking him for his coaching.

It has been a breakout season for Simic. Not only has he represented the senior team on a few occasions, including scoring on his debut, but he has also led the Primavera to their first UEFA Youth League final.

The defender seemingly has all the traits to make it far in the game, and he looks much more mature than his age might suggest he may be, which is a massive positive for the club. Given the progress with the Under 23 squad, there is little to no pressure on him to adapt to senior football immediately, which will only increase his chances of growing naturally.

With the news of Abate’s departure, Simic posted a story to his Instagram to offer his best wishes to the coach, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

“Thank you for the last two years we spent together Mister! You gave me so much, and I am very grateful to have worked with you. Good luck for the future.”

  1. “The defender seemingly has all the traits to make it far in the game”. Why? What have we really seen from the kid?

    1. Everything! Mobile, strong, amazing 1on1 (remember Vinisius, the guy who is number one player today, well Simic nullified him in friendly), scored a goal in his first match? What the freacking else do you want?

      1. Lol a friendly is what u judged him by? A friendly which btw Tomori was covering his a$$ for lack of positioning skills. Can’t hold an offside line to save his life. Lacks pace so sits back too deep. If anything one of the most overrated player from the academy in a long time. Can’t mark taller, more physical players like Joselu who in that same game manhandled him…maybe you missed that. Vini probably wasn’t even bothering with that game but saving his energy for when real games comes like in a UCL final LMAO 😂
Did u see how terrible he was in the UCL youth league final? Badly out of position, too far upfield on many occasions.
I get people wishing and wanting for us to have gems from the academy burst into the first team and become a star but come on bro.

        1. I never watch abate squad play but if your comment are true then this kid more awful than thiaw. Probably this kid maybe good on 3CB formation because 2strong CB can cover him just like bonushit get carried by chiellini & barzagli

          1. He’s young and has loads of time to get things right but at the moment he has many things to work on. I think the UCL youth final is online and on DAZN if u have that subscription, can zone in on him if you’d like and see the positional issues. There are lots of grass greener folks here. You got academy + young + dislike for the performance of regular Serie A hardened starters against grown men and that’s how statements like these get made. (Not saying he’s bad though, just needs work instead of ‘stellar’)
Before Tomori got injured this season he was by far our best defender so much so he masked the errors or his partner

  2. Simic is much better than Thiaw and almost better than Tomori except in speed. He deserves to be in the first team as a first substitute.
