Sky: Calabria to miss Fiorentina clash with training injury – the details

AC Milan trained, as usual, this afternoon, but there is some bad news to emerge from Milanello – Davide Calabria will miss this weekend’s game against Fiorentina through injury.

There have been suggestions in the run-up to Sunday’s game that Calabria would be set to at least challenge Emerson Royal for a starting spot against La Viola, but after today’s training session, this will not be the case.

As reported by Sky (via Milan News), the right-back has suffered a muscle problem in his left calf so he ‘definitely’ will not be present in this weekend’s game. The report also suggests that the Italian was expected to start the game ahead of Emerson, so the injury will hurt a little more.

Calabria had only just returned from a three-match absence due to adductor muscle discomfort, so this latest injury is unfortunate, and there is no timeframe on how many games he could miss this time.

Sky states that he will undergo ‘instrumental examinations’ within the next few hours to understand the extent of the injury and how long he will be sidelined. Nevertheless, it does not bode well that the captain is struggling with another muscle injury, and hopefully, it is just a knock.
