Sky: Squad exclusion a precaution as tests rule out injury for Origi

Divock Origi experienced fatigue in his left thigh during yesterday’s training session and he was thus left out of the squad for Sampdoria-Milan today. However, it’s nothing serious for the Belgian striker.

Origi was all set to play from the first minute tonight but a last-minute discomfort means Olivier Giroud will make his fifth consecutive start. Having struggled with an injury all summer, the first impression hasn’t been great from Origi.

According to Sky Italia’s Peppe Di Stefano, as cited by @IlBuonFabio, tests that were carried out last night ruled out a muscular lesion for Origi. In other words, the injury is nothing serious but the player didn’t want to risk it.

He will most likely be back for the mid-week clash against Dinamo Zagreb, but it remains to be seen if he will play from start or not. In any case, the situation is far from ideal as Giroud is forced to work overtime.
