Sky Germany: Zirkzee suffers injury blow amid interest from Milan, Inter and more

By Euan Burns -

Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee has suffered a hamstring injury which is a major blow to his and the Rossoblu’s season, and will be noted by the many clubs keen on signing him.

As reported by Sky Germany, the Dutch striker has suffered a hamstring injury which is expected to keep him out of action for around three weeks at a vital part of the season.

Bologna are currently fourth in Serie A and are fighting for a historic qualification to the Champions League, but Roma are just three points behind them and Atalanta are four points back.

Zirkzee’s main aim right now is to ensure he is a part of the Netherlands squad that goes to EURO 2024 in Germany this summer, and providing this injury does not lead to other issues, he will still be able to do that.

He must hope that his performances continue in the manner they have done all season once he is back, as clubs like Inter, AC Milan and Juventus are all plotting a summer move.

There currently seems to be little desire from Bayern Munich to exercise their buy-back clause for Zirkzee, which is good news for the chasing Italian teams this summer.

  1. Hamstring injury is BAD news for such a young player. It means he is not going to be able to live up to his potential, ever. We should think twice before betting on him now.

      1. He never said it was but a trauma in the harm string can take month to recover fully from.

3 weeks is best case scenario.

        1. Yeah, but did you read this: “It means he is not going to be able to live up to his potential, ever.”?

Lol. He’s never going to live up to his potential? Because of a hamstring pull???

          1. I agree with you Vero, Hamstring injuries happens at all ages and it generally happens because of sprints so i dont really see any reason to believe it will affect him long term or hamper his development either.

    1. “Hamstring injury is BAD news for such a young player. It means he is not going to be able to live up to his potential, ever.”

LOL. And the Drama queen of the week -award goes to….!!!!

There are injuries and there are INJURIES. A three week injury “ain’t nuttin’ but a scratch”. Have you ever even played sports?

  2. He can still play at Euro and increase his value . No italian club can afford him,Bologna put 60m euro price tag. Only EPL club can buy him with that price

    1. This. Hojlund set the market at 74m, and with less goals than Zirkzee. Why we keep talking about him is a mystery, unless we can get Bayern to agree to exercise their 40m option and sell him to us for a small profit, or in a trade for Mike. I don’t think we’re getting Zirkzee or Sesko.

      1. Hojlund market was the EPL.
From everything reported Zirkzee wants to stay in Italy and follow Motta.
Without the EPL tax his price tag would be around what is reported.

        1. What is being reported is 60m, still too high for Milan, unless we’re surprised by a splash. Also it’s irrelevant how WE value him, only what Bologna wants. And if Bologna qualifies for the CL, they will be under no obligation to sell anyone, unless serious money is presented. Their owner is ambitious within his means. Also, money has a funny way of affecting players, so if an EPL club arrives with the right transfer offer and the right salary offer, he might go anyway. Then, if he really wants to “stay in Serie A” and “follow Motta”, we will have to see where Motta ends up, since other clubs are now beginning to look at him, and since we’re being so wishy-washy with our own coaching situation. So, I’m skeptical we will see Zirkzee in Milan colors.

        2. Sorry if it’s a bit pessimistic, but this is our condition. I’m interested in both Zirkzee and Motta, but it just seems like we never quite get what we need.

  3. What a STUPID article. There’s a 2 week international break after this week’s fixtures. Zirkzee will miss the Empoli game and is expected back for their home game against mighty Salernitana. Milan have taken a punt on Pulisic and RLC, who are notoriously injury prone, and you think a minor hamstring injury will cool interest in Zirkzee?

  4. To me i don’t care if he’s injured or not. Zirkzee is an average player and i feel Milan should go for a more quality ST9 than him.
