Sky Germany: RB Leipzig readying new offer for Milan target after €32m bid is rejected

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are at risk of missing out on one of their targets for the centre-forward role with RB Leipzig pressing hard to get Lois Openda, a report claims.

According to what is being reported by Sky Germany (via SempreMilan.it), Leipzig are in the market for a new centre-forward with Christopher Nkunku heading to Chelsea, and they have identified Openda as the right profile.

RC Lens have rejected a first offer of €27m plus €5m in bonuses for the 23-year-old, but a new offer from the German club could arrive in the next few days, increasing the fixed part to €30m.

Openda amassed 21 goals in 38 league games and was the fourth-top scorer in Ligue 1 behind Kylian Mbappe (29), Alexander Lacazzette (27) and Jonathan David (24).

Milan are currently more strongly linked with a move for Marcus Thuram but his salary demands cut see him end up joining Paris Saint-Germain, while the name of Gianluca Scamacca also continues to circulate.

  1. Milan will get the still talent at 24, Scammacca and also free as they will let him on a free loan with option to buy. The most important part is the free, because Thuram falls into that category as well. And next year the option won’t be exercised because Scammacca is a failure and he will still be a talent in 4 years and about to explode. 24 year old top striker with under 50 goals to his name in his entire career, including Serie B. But he is free 😀

    1. Very few loans these days are free, there’ll be a loan fee of several million. Still potentially very good value and one I really hope we do, but certainly not free.
