Sky UK: Man Utd have ‘cautious optimism’ over Zirkzee after ‘positive talks’

By Oliver Fisher -

A report from England has claimed that Manchester United are optimistic that they will win the race with AC Milan to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

As far as we know, the path to Zirkzee remains gridlocked for Milan. The management have already communicated to Bologna their intent to pay the €40m clause present in his contract and already have a verbal agreement over personal terms with the player.

What’s holding back the deal is the request of his agent Kia Joorabchian on commissions. The first request for €15m was rejected and it will be necessary to negotiate with him before the deal can get over the line.

According to the latest from Sky Sports UK, Manchester United ‘remain in positive talks with Zirkzee’s representatives’ over his potential arrival at Old Trafford and there is now ‘cautious optimism that a deal can be done’.

United are prepared to pay the Dutchman’s €40m (£33.8m) release clause, they confirm, but there is still competition to beat. Sky add that Arsenal, Milan and Juventus are among the other clubs interested in the 23-year-old, who is at the European Championship in Germany.

While there is no mention of what the Red Devils’ stance might be on the commission requests, the financial power of Premier League clubs mean they might be more inclined to pay it.

  1. If Zirkzee joins united, furlani should be sacked rightaway. He has been wasting his time – and ours – for the last month and has been made to look like a perfect idiot … which of course he is. Same plot and ending like thuram last year.
    FURLANI OUT.

    1. Mate you need to take a break from Internet if you think that Furlani “wasted your time”, because you have been reading too much gossip about some transfer…

If information we have so far is true – so Zirkzee’s agent demands 15 milion commission, then it’s really questionable if this transfer makes sense at all. Zirkzee for now is a one season wonder, with really mediocre numbers, nothing spectacular. He is not even good enough to be a backup for Dutch team. And if from the start they are making fuss like this about ridiculous commission, then it will be only worse in the future (Donnarruma v2). It’s better to get someone else then, not worth it.
