Sky: Milan set for crunch talks with Spurs over full-back – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are set for a potentially decisive meeting with Spurs this week regarding the Emerson Royal deal, according to a report.

Once the hiring of Paulo Fonseca as the new head coach was confirmed, reports began to emerge claiming that the signing of a new right-back is one of his priorities, given that he prefers more attacking players on the flanks of the defence.

Davide Calabria is the captain and is likely to remain but the idea is to sign someone to challenge for the spot, while Alessandro Florenzi – who did not have a great relationship with Fonseca at Roma – could apparently be leaving one year from the expiry of his deal.

According to what is being reported by Sky, Milan will speak with Spurs some time this week – most likely on Wednesday or Thursday – regarding the possibility of signing Emerson Royal to fill the aforementioned gap.

The talks will serve to understand what the London club are demanding in terms of a transfer fee and whether the management are willing to get close to it with an official offer, so there are decisive days ahead.

The Brazilian is looking for a bounce back season. In the last Premier League campaign he almost halved his starting appearances with Tottenham, from 20 to 11, and he is seemingly not a big part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
