Sky: Milan do not intend to invest more than planned in January despite position in the table

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will not make large investments in the January transfer window despite the fact they are top of the table, according to Sky.

The Rossoneri have entered the winter mercato top of the Serie A standings for the first time in what feels like an eternity, which has led for some fans and pundits to call upon the ownership and the management to make a big effort to strengthen this month and bolster the hopes of a serious title challenge.

According to what is being reported by Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Milan – despite being top after 16 games – do not intend to invest more than they had planned to.

They state that the Rossoneri are ‘pursuing a dream’ in going for the title and it is one that they can continue to fight for because the economic emergency effects everyone, not just them.

Luca Marchetti added: “No one gives you the certainty that if you sign Papu Gomez, for example, then you will win the league.”

  1. What a joke. We lose out on Kone for 9M? We only offered 5M? If we cannot spend 9M on a young talent like Kone with huge upside we are in serious trouble and will never catch Juve, Inter let alone other CL teams…9M was a bathing for this kid. If we can’t sign him how can they claim we are after Soumare who costs 20-25m? Makes no sense. Once ManU took interest in Kone the price went up. Should have took him. Terrible. Now we may lose Simakan? Haven’t we learned our lesson? We could have had him on summer for 15m and we low balled at 12m. His price went up because he is a star. Now they want 18-20m and we are only offering 15m? What a joke. Wake up Elliot and open up the wallet. We have real chance to win scudetto if we get serious reinforcements (3 at least) to help our lack of depth. The Juve game should have showed us we lack depth and won’t win title unless we fix that immediately…
