Sky: Milan to name strong Europa League side despite 4-2 lead – the details

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli is expected to name a strong team when the Rossoneri face Slavia Prague in the Europa League on Thursday, despite winning the first leg 4-2.

As reported by Sky Sport 24 (via Milan News), Pioli does not want to take any risks when it comes to the Europa League given it is the only remaining chance to win silverware this season.

There are also suggestions that winning the Europa League could be the only way for Pioli to salvage his job, as there is disappointment with how far behind Inter they are in Serie A.

There is genuine concern about the second leg of this round of 16 tie in the Czech Republic because Slavia managed to score twice whilst they only had 10 players.

With a home crowd and a full complement of players, Slavia will think that the two-goal deficit can be made up if Milan are not professional.

Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez are expected to start on the flanks, with two from Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori and Simon Kjaer in the middle.

The usual attacking quarter of Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud should start to ensure Milan definitely get through the tie and into the quarter-finals.

  1. It’s not just how far behind Inter we are it’s more to the point that Inter have systematically demolished us in the last few encounters.
Whether we win Europa league or not Pioli needs to go as this club needs a fresh approach. It’s bad enough already being “financially” played like a game of poker by the Yanks and Arabs.

    1. Yeah because the team was in great financial shape before the Americans took over, right?
No, they were in huge financial debt, hadn’t won the Scudetto in about 10 years and hadn’t qualified for Champions League in over 5 years. Now Milan is profitable, they won the Scudetto and qualify for Champions League every year.
Why don’t you just say thank you and STFU.

      1. Because that’s not what many do here. They come here to vent and cope with their harsh realities. Objectivity doesn’t fit the narrative of b*tching and complaining…

        Pick your battles, K. 😉

          1. Gabbia? Who? The forgotten kid who will drop behind the calamity duo Kalulu & Thiaw? Yeah, Gabbia won’t be playing anymore – even though he’d deserve to.

  2. I’m a Milan for over 20 years now and I’m a Nigerian. But I think that as a fan base we are very toxic. Imagine how many people complained about our past players like Kessie, Donna, Hakan and the rest and we still come here to unnecessary vent and lash out at everything. I love Milan but mean we are a toxic fan base. We are never satisfied with anything. It will be a good thing for us to win this Europa League. Support this team or just stop being toxic. It affects some of us who aren’t Italians.

  3. Every team face ups and downs we are not doing very well but at least we are trying I just hate the fact that we hardly keep cleansheets we conceed way to many goals which is why we are far behind than inter. But let’s hope we win the Europa League and finish 2nd place

  4. Yes will be good to finish second in the leauge and winning the Europa would be amazing ..
Reaching the semis would be decent .
We are doing well in some games ,but not consistent enough..
