Sky: Milan and Fonseca ‘ready to part ways for good’ – the job he will take

Paulo Fonseca has only been out of a job for around a month since leaving AC Milan, but he is ready to jump back into management again it seems.

According to what is being reported by Sky (among other sources like L’Equipe and Fabrizio Romano), Fonseca and Milan are ‘ready to part ways for good’. They are speaking from a contractual point of view, following the dismissal at the end of December.

Fonseca was sacked following the 1-1 draw with Roma on December 30 and just a few hours later it was announced that Sergio Conceição would be taking over. Milan, thus, have two Portuguese coaches on the books at present in terms of paying salaries out.

However, meetings are underway between the club and Fonseca’s entourage to terminate the contract because he is ready to get back into coaching immediately and take Sage’s place at Lyon. For him it will be a return to Ligue 1, after two seasons at the helm of Lille.

It will be another tough job, though. Back on 15 November 2024, it was announced by the DNCG that Lyon would be provisionally demoted to Ligue 2 at the end of the season because of financial mismanagement and would be banned from signing players in January 2025.

  1. Lyon is seriously lacking Okafor (as Fofana sub), RLC type of midfielder and an amazing fullback like Emerson…

maybe we can give them all 3 of them + 10/15M for their Fofana + Mikautadze?

  2. I wish him well. I don’t think he was given a fair chance here. Didn’t have a lot of time in the pre-season to work with the starters and then had Theo basically sabotaging the team’s season. I would like to have seen him get to finish out the season.
I think now people are starting to realize the problems were not all on him. He tried to bring some discipline to some of our spoiled, lazy players.

  3. Of course you’ll wish your boyfriend well and defend him haha 😂 He didn’t get enough time? He had a whole preseason and 17 whole games in charge. Stop acting as if other coaches aren’t either 1. New or 2. Didn’t have all players at their disposal during preseason.
At what point are you going to realize that Fonseca was trash? 17 games, almost a half a season in charge and that was not enough? Hahahaha 🤣😂😂. When would it be enough? Tell us oh wise one.. 17 league games, 7W, 6D, 4L sitting in 8th place at 1.58 points per game..those are Giampaolo level numbers. That’s mediocrity written all over it. If that had continued we’d end up with 60 points by the end of the season and likely out of UCL spots, maybe not in Europa or even conference league contention. Coaches are judged on performance and his wasnt good enough.
If Theo is sabotaging games as only you of course would falsely claim, then drop him, right. What ballsless coaching! But he kept the sabotager in game after game …and also gave him captaincy? He’s a poor weak coach. Excuses galore for the mediocre Fonseca..always been garbage in Serie A and we hired him only to prove himself once more that he was garbage in Serie A

  4. “If Theo is sabotaging games as only you of course would falsely claim, then drop him, right.”

He did drop him moron. On multiple occasions. You watch the games at all?

And what would you call a player directly disobeying the coaches orders, taking penalties away from the team’s designated PK taker, getting suspended multiple games for arguing with refs after the match and just general lack of effort? I would call that sabotage.
If the problem was Fonseca, please explain why the performances have gotten even worse. The performances have been horrendous under Conceicao. I don’t want to hear about some lucky last minute come from behind miracles, the team’s performance has been dreadful. We’ve trailed in 5 out of the 7 matches. One clean sheet. And the same problems that were there under Fonseca are still there, even worse now.
You are confusing results with performances.
Haven’t seen one performance where the team looked impressive under Conceicao yet. Certainly nothing close to the performances the team put on against Real MAdrid and Inter under Fonseca.

    1. Trip, tripe and more tripe as usual from you. Love to call people all sorts of things from mor.on to stu.pid, fo.ols but u get a little banter and you fall to pieces. If you cant take them don’t dish them, ok m0ron?
You’re mo.ronic responses are so easy to predict. I’ve said absolutely nothing about Conceicao and I knew you were going to bring him up. That’s how bad Fonseca is. You, mo.ron, have to justify Fonseca’s poor abilities by bringing down Conceicao. Can’t even justify his record on his own merit and it’s pure facts that he doesn’t have a winning record, independent of what Sarge is doing, with us. 7 wins out of 17. I noticed you’ve said nothing about that. 8th position in the league, you’ve said nothing about that. All you have is a weak argument that we were good two games..his biggest achievement lol 😂….in half a season….and those were questionable as those teams were clearly under their best. Matter of fact both Inter and Real are doing better since we’ve faced them while we’ve regressed….under Fonseca.
“You are confusing results with performances” So we’re due for two other good games the rest of the season based on that rate and this is the dude you choose to defend? I’ll wait for your rebuttal it’ll be full of stuff about Sarge hahaha 🤣🤣🤣 more emojis on the way dumba$$. Results are what coaches are judged on, performance is secondary. But since u want to go down that route, What about the sh!ta$$ performance against Cagliari…right after Real?! What about Brugge and Slovan? For each “good” performance we have like 2-3 atrocious performances. But u choose to cherry pick the ONLY two performances that remotely might be half decent.
An id.iot on this forum once said sport is the only profession where you think you know more than professionals. Well guess what K, the professionals decided your boyfriend Fonseca wasn’t good enough and they replaced him. So go cry under the pillow and get over it. It would do you good. Stop pretending you know better than people who have been in football all their lives.

  5. “Of course you’ll wish your boyfriend well and defend him haha 😂”
Can’t get over all the supposed grown men in here talking like grade school mean girls. And the emojis as well. A real sign of an intelligent argument.
