Sky: Milan may turn to €40m Udinese star after Correa disappointment

AC Milan may make a move for Udinese star Rodrigo De Paul as an alternative to Atletico Madrid’s Angel Correa, one journalist claims.

The Rossoneri are believed to be targeting a forward before the window slams shut, and multiple outlets have stated that Angel Correa is the primary target.

We revealed back in July that personal terms had been agreed with Correa on a five-year deal, but after weeks of negotiations it seems Milan are now looking for alternatives.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested that any hopes of signing the Argentina could be over altogether as the two sides ‘have never been so far apart’ in negotiations.

However, if Sky Italia market expert Luca Marchetti is to be believed, Paolo Maldini and the rest of the leadership are now targeting Correa’s international team-mate.

He stated (via MilanNews): “Milan will not change position [on Correa] because they know that the player wants to join. He is strong in his will.

“Atletico Madrid, with the same demands, refuse due to the fact that other teams have presented them with higher offers.

“Milan are starting to look around, but these are difficult economic operations. Among the hypotheses is Everton of Gremio, but the negotiation is difficult because his ownership is split.

“The other name – who is also liked by Fiorentina – is Rodrigo De Paul, but this track has not yet been deepened.”

Earlier in the month, a report from Calciomercato.com confirmed that Milan are interested in the Udinese star, who would cost €35-40m.

  1. All summer long, we have heard: Correa, Correa is coming, Correa has nearly arrived. Now you are saying: No, Correa is not coming. We have always been Milan fans, and we will always be; but it seems we have to learn to live with disappointments.
