Something that may go under the radar is the movement that happens in the Primavera and the various coaching sectors this summer, and AC Milan are making changes.
According to what is being reported by Sky (via MilanNews), Milan have decided to part ways with Angelo Carbone who has been the manager of the youth sector for four years, having started the role in 2019.
The Rossoneri leadership have decided not to extend his contract as the overhaul of the management continues following Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara’s sackings.
To replace him, the target is Enzo Vergine of Roma who is one of the most highly regarded in the country given the amount of players who have come through the Giallorossi academy.
He has been the academy manager of Roma since 2021 so has only been in the role for two years, but Milan could make an attempt to lure him north.
Do we also make changes in fitness/medical department?
Another weird decision our academy been improving alot since 2019 so obviously we were doing something right and continuity is key. On the other hand, Roma academy success can’t be attributed to Enzo Vergine according to this report he is only been there for 2 years in the youth sector not enough time to evaluate someone’s work.
Ah yes because Milan youth players have been breaking through all the time. Outside of Pobega what academy products have contributed to the first team? If you can call what Pobega did last year as a contribution…
Pobega wasn’t part of this regime, he was first loaned out in 2018. The current players are significantly more talented than Pobega. I watch the Primavera highlights every week, El Hilali, Traore and Cuenca are very good. Bozzolan and Coubis are good going forward, but poor defensively. Coubis especially is useless in the air, he often mistimes his jumps, but it was year one under a rookie coach and they got to the SFs of the UCL.
