Sky journalist gives Milan-Zirkzee update: “Day by day confidence increases”

By Oliver Fisher -

Sky journalist Manuele Baiocchini has claimed that the confidence internally at AC Milan is growing day by day that they can sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

Zirkzee is in high demand after a season in which he scored 12 goals and added seven assists for Bologna across all competitions, and virtually every major source is reporting that Milan want to make him their marquee summer signing.

The 23-year-old Dutchman has been linked previously and the Milan management appear to believe that he is the ideal long term centre-forward, given Olivier Giroud has departed on a free transfer.

Baiocchini spoke on Sky (via MilanNews) and gave an update on the various negotiations that Milan are working on starting with Zirkzee, regarding whom belief is growing.

“Day by day confidence increases that this deal will go through. The agreements are there, the one on the agent’s commissions is still missing from Zirkzee,” he said.

“Kia Joorabchian has asked for 15 million euros, a very high figure that Milan are trying to reduce in recent days to reach a total agreement.

“Moncada was in London and spoke to Chelsea about Broja and Lukaku. At the moment more Borja than Lukaku as an alternative to Jovic. The Rossoneri director then also met Aston Villa to speak with right-back Cash.”

Milan have been following Zirkzee since the end of last year as we reported at the time, so it is a long-standing interest that the directors hope will lead to his eventual arrival.

  1. Transfer window in Italy isn’t open until JULY so NOTHING HAPPENING ANY TIME SOON.
As for the first team it’ll take more than this guy to take us to the next level .

    1. They can still have the deal in place to have it ready when it does open. And I think that’s what they are doing. Preagreements basically.

    2. They can buy player anytime of the year. The window is just for players to formally change club and registered to the league or competitions. Players can change employer outside the transfer window. But it is wiser to register the contract when the transfer window starts so they can optimize the length of contract during active season.

      1. No they can’t -_-

They can’t change owner outside of transfer window. They can agree the deal, the salary, the transfer fee etc but before transfer window open, nothing can be signed. No money can be exchanged. Except maybe pre-agreement, which still don’t officially change the owner of the player.

It’s not about being wise, it’s about regulation.

  2. I think we will get Zirkzee and Fofana before July. Cesc said we had more or less the other one in the bag, while Zirkzee will be settled for 7-8M commissions. Tiago Santos should also be fine due to Fonseca. So the only issue is then CB.

If we actually pull this off and not sell our stars, we can tackle Scudetto and top 8-16 in UCL

    1. Yeah there are lots of reasons for optimism. Inter will still be super strong and Juventus should be a lot better too tho.

  3. Mercato starting 1.July , so we have around 1 month time while we buy someone…I’m interesred which player come becaus in last 3 weeks there was around 7 strikers , 4 defenders and another 3-4 midfilders… and then when mercato start we buy absolutely different players 😀
I just hope they will buy some stars players like they buy in last summer ( Pulisic, RLC ) and maybe we can play again for finishing on 2th. place becaus I think this seasson Napoli and Juve will be mutch stronger then they was this seasson
