Sky: Musah to start for Milan against Parma – Loftus-Cheek in advanced role

Yunus Musah is expected to be handed a rare start in the AC Milan midfield against Parma on Saturday evening with Ruben Loftus-Cheek moving further up the pitch.

According to Sky Sport Italia (via Milan News), the American midfielder should get the nod from Paulo Fonseca for the game at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, but it would mean leaving out a form player.

The plan would be for Musah to partner Tijjani Reijnders in the double pivot, with Ismael Bennacer dropping down to the bench.

That means Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s position is gone, so he would move into the No.10 role that he played in a lot last season, and Christian Pulisic would head back to the right wing where he played last season.

Therefore it is Samuel Chukwueze who misses out in this event, with Rafael Leao still taking up his normal role on the left.

It would be a bold call from Fonseca and would give Musah a chance to impress the new coach from the first minute.

There would be a lot of pressure on the performance given the assumption is that when he is fit and raring to go, Youssouf Fofana will have that spot in the midfield.

  1. This is good if true but they are almost always wrong.
I like Pulisic on the right and Chuku on the bench. And I like Musah getting a chance to start. He has good energy, a good attitude and a high potential. Just needs some more experience and quicker decision making.
Although I do have a feeling Fonseca is going to come up with some way to squeeze Saleamakers into the lineup. I hope I’m wrong.

    1. Not basic cabl, but over the air. Anyone can watch for free from any TV with an antenna.

That is the “historic” part for Italian football if I understand correctly.

Honestly, I still haven’t seen a Musah shirt anywhere I’ve been in the US or Canada this year.

I suspect that the sweet assist for the equalizer might have a bit more to it. He looked great off the bench.

I just wish that could be his role for 10-15 games before we pin hopes and dreams on him.

At least he is playing the same position two games in a row.

  2. I like Musah in the pivot, but he needs more of a regista next to him to help direct play and make the longer passes. Musah is very hard to dispossess 1v1. I’m glad he’s getting to play, because he needs to play if he’s going to improve.
