Sky: Probable Milan XI to face Crotone – Pioli welcomes back key duo down the middle

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is close to being able to call upon a full squad, and his starting XI for Saturday’s game against Crotone has been reported.

In terms of current injury problems, Pioli will be without centre-back Matteo Gabbia who is closing in on a return, as well as Brahim Diaz and Simon Kjaer who are both recovering from thigh muscle problems.

The broadcaster reports that Pioli will name Davide Calabria, Fikayo Tomori, Alessio Romagnoli and Theo Hernandez from right to left as the back four in front of Gianluigi Donnarumma, with Ismael Bennacer coming back into the double pivot alongside Franck Kessie.

The trio behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be Alexis Saelemaekers, Hakan Calhanoglu – back after COVID – and Ante Rebic (chosen over Rafael Leao) as Milan look to hold on to top spot.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Calabria, Tomori, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Kessie, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu, Rebic; Ibrahimovic.
