Sky: Pulisic awaiting fitness tests but already doubtful for Lecce clash

By Euan Burns -

Christian Pulisic is waiting to undergo fitness tests to see the full extent of his injury but he is already viewed as a major doubt for the Serie A game against Lecce this weekend, a report claims.

As has been reported by Sky Sport Italia (via Milan News), the American winger will undergo tests very soon to work out what went wrong last night against Paris Saint-Germain, as he was taken off in pain towards the end of the game.

There is a chance that the American has only suffered from a muscle fatigue, but there is the potential for it to be much more serious.

Regardless of what the outcome is, there seems little chance that Pulisic will be able to play against Lecce on Saturday in Serie A, meaning Samuel Chukwueze could make his return to the starting eleven.

Pulisic was one of Milan’s less effective players on Tuesday night.

  1. if its only for a game or maybe 1.5-2 week or something it could actually be a blessing in disguise as chukwueze and romero could get a chance to prove themselves and get up in gears while pulisic stays in milano in the international break.
Anyways hopefully it isnt anything serious.

    1. Yeah best case scenario it is not too serious and he get’s a few weeks rest.
Be nice if Reijnders, Giroud and Tomori got some rest too.
We really need our squad fit and well to get through this group of death.

I looked at the table and seems to me we must beat Dortmund at home and get at least a draw at Newcastle, if not a win.

PSG will probably beat Newcastle in Paris, so they may not turn up against Dortmund in their final game.
It’s going to be very tight!

      1. Yeah against lecce i would give both adli and pobega and okafor some minutes and if necessary make some subs with our starters later on (60mins) but on the other hand we also need a victory against them not to get further behind in serie a.

I think we will win the remaining two games and if i could have my say we will win the group with dortmund coming in at second place if that is a possibility.

psg propably will be out for blood considering they lost 4-1 in newcastle but who knows they might only get a draw. Either way it was always bound to be a tight and intriguing group.

    2. Unfortunately this is why Puli’s career has stagnated. He’s got fitness issues. This is why Chelsea brought other players in his position and he lost his starting spot. It reminds me of Pato, lots of talent but he could never establish a rhythm because at some point he’d go down with an injury.

      1. I think there is also some blame on Pioli here. Pulisic was just back from a thigh strain. He left him on for over 90 mins in one of the highest intensity games you could ever see.
Aside from the fact he visibly tired and struggled. Okafor and Chucky were ideal replacements in such a game.
Poor player management and poor game management.

        1. We dont know chukwueze’s fitness, he is also coming from an injury, did he have enough fitness to come into that intense game? Only the coaches who train him everyday knew, remember initially he was expected to come back after the next international break

        2. It’s a tough call. We needed this win and it was clear that Pioli was under pressure to get a result as he didn’t make any substitution at all until the 84th minute, knowing he had his best 11 on the pitch. That said he could very well have sent Florenzi on for Pulisicat the same time that Krunic and Okafor came on. Again, it was a tough call in an almost must win match.

      2. He has had a faltering physique but at least he has done very well with us but i tend to agree with SJF that it propably would have been the smartest thing to have subbed him off a bit earlier but it could also have been a bit risky on its own,
Ecstatic that we got the win nevertheless.

      3. “He’s got fitness issues.”

Well… He was injured and then brought back to starting 11 and played against one of the toughest teams in the world for intensive 90 minutes… Fitness issues? Well… Even the fittest could have fitness issues in a match like this. If he didn’t suffer a new injury he’ll/we’ll be fine after he gets his rest. And hopefully Pioli won’t rush his comeback AGAIN.

    1. Yeah he needs a rest, although the international break is coming up right after. I would like to see a midfield of Musah, Adli and RLC for Lecce. Krunic can come in later to help hold the result.
