Sky reporter claims Milan ‘respect’ Man Utd but have ‘desire to amaze’ during European tie

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have the desire to make a statement when they face Manchester United in the Europa League last 16, a journalist has claimed.

Attention for the Rossoneri now shifts towards the first leg of the tie at Old Trafford on Thursday night after yesterday’s 2-0 win over Hellas Verona during which the team battled through a couple of major obstacles to earn three points.

The first is the fact they had so many players missing through injury such as Theo Hernandez, Bennacer, Rebic, Ibrahimovic, Calhanoglu and Mandzukic. The second is that the team were far from their most confident going into the fixture having taken just four points from their last four league games prior to the game.

Goals from Rade Krunic and Diogo Dalot plus some excellent defensive organisation were enough to bring the three points home. Peppe Di Stefano spoke to Sky Italia outside Milanello on the day that preparations for the game at Old Trafford got underway.

“Yesterday Milan did a great feat in Verona. We did not expect such a beautiful and lively Milan. In Verona many players were out, but yesterday the Rossoneri won and dominated the match, without ever having run risks,” he said (via MilanNews).

“Milan looks to Manchester United with respect, but with a desire to amaze. Today at Milanello, those who played yesterday did some relaxing work, while Tonali is recovered. Rebic and Theo worked separately with the aim of returning on Thursday. Bennacer and Ibrahimovic underwent treatment. Mandzukic started running again today. Milan won yesterday without a leader on the pitch, winning with goals from Krunic and Dalot, who are two more resources.”
