Sky: The five targets left on Milan’s list after De Ketelaere swoop

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have five targets left on their summer shopping list which will be looked into once Charles De Ketelaere’s arrival is official, a report claims.

According to Sky (via MilanEye), directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara consider the role of centre-back to be an area that needs intervention and they have two names on the list for that: Abdou Diallo of Paris Saint-Germain and Japhet Tanganga of Spurs.

A central midfielder is also very much on the agenda and the duo that Milan have got in mind for that role have been well documented in recent days and weeks in Renato Sanches of Lille and Carney Chukwuemeka of Aston Villa.

Sky also go on to add that Milan have not yet given up on signing Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea despite the now imminent arrival of De Ketelaere, but it is not made clear whether a player would have to be sold in attack first or if he remains a target regardless.

    1. Good italian players are very expensive and their salaries also are not competitive with the salaries of foreign players (tax deduction due to decreto crescita). To buy a cheap Italian player that is not good just so that we have it in the list is nonsense and counterproductive.

That’s the main reason why we are investing in young players and especially U18 (reason for going after Pellegri, Lazovic and now Mancini).

Hopefully someone from the new batch at the Primavera will also be able to step up, though I had high hopes for Roback and Stanga but so far it hasn’t panned out. Olzer also doesn’t seem to be doing good at Brescia.

      1. So which is better, only having 23 players for UCL backed up by primavera or buying an Italian player to fill the last association-homegrown slot so we can have 24 players for UCL backed up by primavera?

Is there a club-homegrown (academy product of Milan) out there who are not expensive that we can take back?

    2. Italians are expensive. Overpriced even. And the foreigners have a huge advantage with the growth decree which can save clubs several millions in taxes.

  1. Ziyech wont come unless AC Milan can sell lord saladmaker which is imposible task due to no club interesting ( the next castilejo). If AC Milan can sign diallo then they can sell ballo toure because diallo can cover LB . Carney 20m euro too expensive for 18 years player but i hope AC Milan sign him for future, too bad budget cannot for both diallo & carney
