SM Exclusive: Fabrizio Romano confirms Milan want a new winger and Thauvin ‘is one of the names’

AC Milan are in the market for a new right winger and the links to Florian Thauvin of Marseille have been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.

We asked Romano if Milan are interested in a new right winger and if there are any names, given the recent links with Florian Thauvin of Marseille and Douglas Costa.

“With Douglas Costa at the moment I have nothing confirmed. Let’s see, but at the moment I have nothing. On Florian Thauvin, yes he is one of the names,” he told us.

“I think in the summer a new right winger will arrive, yes, we will see what the name will be just because we are in January so the decision on this will come during April, close to the end of the season, but Florian Thauvin is so appreciated, he is out of contract at Marseille so it’s a big opportunity for many clubs.

“For sure he would love to be a Rossoneri player. Maldini also mentioned the player is appreciated by the board of AC Milan, so for sure he’s one of the names.

“Yes, I expect them to go for a right winger, just because Castillejo is a good level but he’s never playing always at the top level, so he needs to be a good replacement and not a starter if you want to play in the Champions League and to compete with the top teams.

“Saelemaekers is doing a good job, but they want a strong right winger, so they will think of these kind of opportunities for next summer.”
