Sottil admits Lecce game was a ‘lie’ after Milan comeback: “This team lacks nothing”

AC Milan clawed back three points from nothing against Lecce on Saturday night, and it is a result which could be the start of something towards the end of the season.

Addressing everything as a ‘restart’ has become tiring for Milan this season, so we’ll try to avoid doing so again. After all, a swing of massively disappointing results, partnered with something, does not instantaneously equal a ‘restart’ of a season, or even a situation.

In fact, it is just a frustrating show of what should be the consistent product from the Rossoneri, though we know all too well that this is never the case.

For it to be deemed a restart, we must look back on the game as a turning point in weeks to come, so for now, we must withhold too much applause and judgment.

Riccardo Sottil spoke to Milan TV after the staggering comeback against Lecce last night, and the winger was honest in his review of his own, and the team’s, game, as Milan News relays.

“It’s not the role I always play, and when you enter into positions on the pitch that are not yours you have to have a high level of attention. The result of the first half was a lie, because we had a lot of chances to go ahead, with two goals cancelled out.

“I think this team lacks nothing because the technical and physical level is very high.

“These are moments that in the course of the season there are and exist, but I believe that with the reaction and the victories you make like tonight you get the momentum to try to turn every game around.”

  1. I saw a bit of Sottil. I can tell he’s a skillful player who has much to offer…a long with Bondo….they need more playing time

  2. this opinion of his is objective but I promise you a lot of the comments if there will be a windfall of comments which is usually the case on here when a player comments on the teams performance will obliterate this opinion with ideas that are just meant to be venom rather than being fair.

This team just got a new coach in the middle of the season, added new players and also add the new style of football. These are all things that need 6-8 months of football to implement and then judge.

The coach had luck and some momentum with the trophy but that still doesn’t negate the time and focus needed. So being in less tournament is good and bad for AC Milan. The bad is obvious and that is Milan should be always competing in the most prestigious European competitions and playing it to win. But the good is this team needs time to adapt and playing high level football every three days with all these new factors requires so much luck and Milan does not have it.

That eventually means now Milan can focus now with training and implementing the ideas, the coach identifying who needs a word or two and those who need to leave and then discuss with the management about making these changes.
