Meite ‘happy’ about imminent move and insists Milan ‘have to fight for the Scudetto’

By Oliver Fisher -

Soualiho Meite has revealed his happiness regarding his imminent move to AC Milan, and that he has already spoken to Franck Kessie.

Stories concerning Milan’s concrete interest in Meite first emerged about a week ago, and since then the operation has accelerated and was closed yesterday, with a number of major sources claiming that the Rossoneri have struck a deal on the basis of a six-month loan with an option to buy.

Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Twitter yesterday that the Frenchman will join Milan for a total of €10million: that being comprised of a €500k loan fee, an option to buy inserted for €8million plus €1.5million in potential bonuses.

It is expected that the 26-year-old will take on the role of Franck Kessie’s deputy in the midfield, ensuring Stefano Pioli has two quality pairings (Bennacer-Kessie and Tonali-Meite) at his disposal.

Meite was interviewed by Sky Italia as he arrived in Milano last night, with his medical examinations currently ongoing at La Madonnina clinic.

“I’m sure I’m happy. I have to be ready for these moments,” he said (via MilanLive).

“I have already talked to Kessie, we have to fight for the Scudetto, we are first. My future at Milan? After these months we will see.”
