Sportitalia: €30m Benfica midfielder ready to snub Leeds with heart set on Milan move

By Oliver Fisher -

Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis has prioritised a move to AC Milan over Leeds United, according to a report.

With Lucas Biglia set to depart, the defensive midfield department is an area that the Rossoneri are expected to strengthen in the summer, with Florentino repeatedly linked.

TMW reported earlier in the week that that Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds are now preparing to rival Milan in the race to land the 20-year-old.

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com on Twitter confirmed Leeds have indeed made their move for the Portugal U21 international by contacting the player’s agent, adding that Benfica are ready to sell on the basis of a two-year loan with option/obligation to buy set at €25-30m.

However, according to broadcaster Sportitalia (via MilanLive), Florentino has made his priority a move to Milan rather than one to England. Contacts between the parties are ongoing, and the feeling is that the Rossoneri could finally close an operation they have had in mind since January.
