Sportitalia: Milan and Inter eyeing LaLiga striker with 12 goals this season

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Inter are both looking to sign a new striker and there could well be a mercato derby between the two sides over the same target, a report claims.

Sportitalia report that both Milanese clubs are keeping their eye on Borja Mayoral, formerly Real Madrid and Roma. The Spanish striker is now playing for Getafe and he has found a new lease of life.

Mayoral has already scored 12 goals in this first part of the season in LaLiga and many clubs have their eyes on him. Among these are Milan and Inter, and the report mentions that the next few weeks will be ‘decisive’ in his future.

Born in Parla in the Community of Madrid, Mayoral joined Real Madrid’s youth setup in 2007 and he made his way up the ranks there, jumping into the first team in 2015 after impressing in the UEFA Youth League.

Since then the 26-year-old has struggled to really establish himself anywhere. Loan spells at Wolfsburg, Levante, Roma and now Getafe followed. As mentioned, his 12 league goals in 18 games this season so far suggest that he is firmly back in the groove.

Milan must of course make a decision on Luka Jovic and Olivier Giroud beyond this season, with both currently under expiring contracts.

  1. I prefer not to try for him how about en nesyri Or unal Or Inaki Williams Or at last raul de tomas but not mayoral he came to serie a with Roma but he wasn’t good what has changed?

    1. Why En Nesyri? When was he actually good? I think he is one of the most overrated players, people talk of him all the time, yet he scores 6-7 goals per season with 1-2 assists. Why do people keep mentioning him? He is a 2nd striker for Milan, at best. He can sit on the bench.

  2. its true en nesyri is cr*p. Mayo is a waste of money. Jović is better than both. Giroud is better than both combined

If we get a new ST it needs to be an upgrade. Havent seen an upgrade name so far.

  3. No thanks, no more cheap la ligue imports, we have jovic and Colombo to come back in the summer, time to concentrate on homegrown talent

  4. Wait for it:

Milan are linked with hundreds of top strikers.

But Milan will end up signing Piatek and Origi (essentially a new signing according to Pioli) for attack

An attack meant to win the CL and compete with Man City obviously, Haaland beware, but will Milan even qualify for CL this year?
